Milarepa statueSaigon Diamond Way Buddhist Meditation group belongs to the Karma Kagyu lineage and is one of over 640 lay meditation centers and groups founded by Lama Ole Nydahl, which are under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje.

Diamond Way Buddhist centers are not abstract institutions. They are organised on a voluntary, non-hierarchical basis and function through friendship and idealism. They are places where one can acquire the timeless wisdom of Buddha’s teachings, meditate, exchange experience, share in ones development and participate in common activities.

Saigon gompa is found by us, the group of good friends who meditate together and work together for the benefit of our gompa. The main objective at Saigon Gompa is as in all our worldwide Buddhist centers and groups: to transmit authentic Diamond Way Buddhist teachings in a modern way. According to that our small sangha organizes lectures and meditation courses in collaboration with our Buddhist friends living in other countries of South East Asia. Furthermore, we travel several times a year in order to receive precious teachings from the great teachers of our Lineage.

Lama Ole often emphasizes the importance of direct contact and the exchange of experience that takes places in our centers. In our everyday lives we try to share our activity together in order to do the practice, exchange the experience and as lay Buddhists, not bound by any vows or restrictions, we can experience all the joys that life can bring and still develop our mind.
